Social workers with direct knowledge of another social worker’s impairment should, when feasible, consult with and assist the social worker in taking remedial action

I do not work in your field, but this topic of burnout is equally relevant to anyone who works in a corporate setting. I wish there was an equivalent society that would educate corporate leadership about this topic of burnout. I have been working in the corporate world for 35 yrs. I’ve always believed in getting the job done and my workday would frequently creep beyond 5pm (especially since Covid started). I’m noticing that the certain classes of employees seem to have the opposite problem – they don’t see the necessity to push themselves at all to get the job done. So when it comes to work-life balance, they are more "life" than "work" while I feel the opposite.
And the kicker is that the company I work for touts "work-life" balance for all employees! The contributing factor to burnout is the "flatness" of our organizational structure. Because there is a small pool of employees who do certain job functions, this places higher demands on some individuals. Their scale of "work-life" balance is more often tipped towards "work", and that means they are more burnout prone. Management seems to be blind to this fact, and their response is punitive when it needs to be compassionate. Also, mixing type A-high achieving employees with those who are "non-type A" has had detrimental effects on the workplace morale. It’s especially frustrating to witness management excuse those who are "non-type A" and give them more latitude for NOT delivering at the same rate and standard as those who are type A high achievers.
Practice what you all preach & TEACH. YOU ARE THE EXAMPLE. GUILT.

The problem with the National AASW Code of ethics is sometimes not everyone initially identifies their personal problems are impacting on their work as stress and burnout can sneak up on us. O get where they are coming from with the codes of ethics though.
I used to be an educator. I just couldn’t take the parents anymore and my care for the kids was sub par. I don’t understand how parents can not understand that treating the people who care for their kids like crap means that person no longer cares about your kid! So many kids with developmental delays and parents who just didn’t care. Burn out was so bad for me. I stopped working and am now changing careers. I am so done. The worst part is that I am a damn good educator and kids love me.
What is the best interests for the CLIENT ?????
ALL KINDS OF EMPLOYMENTS, & RELATIONSHIPS, ALL KINDS OF BURN OUT, COMPLETE EXHAUSTION, WORN DOWN & OUT.
Insights into burn-out that have helped me a lot: Careful with over-identification with outcomes. Do good work, but you can’t expect every effort to be successful. Careful with taking on more than your share of the burden of achievement of the desired outcomes. My job is to notice when to inform and assist, even if that happens repeatedly, even continuously with your most challenging situations.
In other words, be at peace that your best efforts may fail and that those you work with may fail utterly. Allow people the permission to fail and you will give them more room to succeed. Make sure that your ruler of self-success is based on effort and not outcome.
Excellent presentation💯👍🏾
I think i am facing this for a second time . Being in college. Facing financial issues and a lifestyle change. My spouse is a retired piano tuner and blind. He has anxious attention. i have anxiety and MDD. I am aware of my surroundings. I am also sight impaired. a lot of comorbidity going on there. My neighbor who is also handicapped she needs a person for light chores and I get a bit of pocket money. I am concerned of our country and Democracy. Being able to vote. This video scenario prepares me mentally for what I will be in for with the field of Psychology. i want to be a online therapist. I am listening to you for good advice and wisdom, knowledge. thank you for what you do you are helping me as a student.
