  1. We need to bring back flip phones. Or more specifically, slide phones with PHYSICAL KEYBOARDS.

The only reason why I physically keep my phone on me is because I’ve had a few episodes of morning fainting spells, and I always want something on me to call for help with. (And YES, I’ve seen doctors DOZENS of times. They tell me it’s "just my period". I’m pretty sure it’s not, especially since I ALSO work in healthcare, but whatever. Sure. It’s fine. It’s just my life. >_>)

  2. Is a video content creator, only spends 30 minutes a day in front of screens.
Yeah the plagiarism and paying other people to make your content for you checks out

  3. “Use Grey scale”
Artists: Welp, gotta do it like the ol’ days before colors were a thing

  4. okay so things i can do instead of screentime dwelling

    – practice my Khaen (cool instrument)
    – colour pencil sketching
    – hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

  5. I procrastinate more on my work laptop than my phone, and I need color in order to do my job (I often need to see different colors in Excel). Guess I’m f*cked?

  6. Not gonna work as I use Duolingo to study Spanish and use my phone to check emails and such. At least that’s what I tell myself.

  7. i did the grey scale thing for a year and it actually did work. it helped me work and focus and i’m considering doing it again

  8. Screen time is not a symptom of having no direction. It’s a symptom of engineering and psychological manipulation that the designers deliberately impose on us all

  9. For anyone who is interested..

    – To reduce screen time, the speaker initially used a **lock box** to physically prevent access to their phone for a few hours after waking up.

    – Switching your phone display to **grayscale** has been scientifically proven to reduce screen time by an average of 30%. The speaker did this for a year and found their screen time to be significantly reduced.

    – Before sleeping, **keep your phone in a different room** to create a buffer zone and prevent immediate scrolling upon waking.

    – Ultimately, **screen time is a symptom of a lack of direction**, so finding a career or hobby you enjoy is crucial.

  10. Do you have something for reducing computer time? I spend 1-2 hours daily on new content (subscriptions, favorite subreddits, people I already follow) and use extensions to hide sidebars, suggestions, front pages, unknown infinite scrolls etc. on youtube, reddit, and instagram to not go further. The problem is after this, instead of being productive I start coming up with more ways* to waste time and don’t stop until the next fixed or roughly fixed time event (club, campus stuff, friend hangout, meeting, sleep for tomorrow).

*For example: checking subreddits I haven’t checked in months or years, watching movies from gathered list of movies to watch, hopping into a conversation with friends and spending hours chatting, thinking, chatting etc. as I type long messages, doing random thing online that I haven’t done in months, thinking of an idea for a one-off shitpost or joke, making the comment, and sending it.

  11. i think this is the first time a "___ in a minute" video has actually accomplished the purpose without clickbait. i love you.

  12. amazing advice!! I also bought a phone cell and it works wonders, the only thing i cannot hack haha

  13. Something that has worked for me is putting a widget on my screen with my screen time. It might seem pointless, but every time I unlock the phone, seeing the number makes me feel conscious about how much time I’ve spent already. Another thing is putting timers on the apps I use the most. I’ve never been above 4-5h with these two tricks, and most of the time I don’t even reach 3h (which is an achievement for me since I used to average 9h ☠️)

  14. Reducing screen time is one thing, but getting rid of the mindless scrolling is a whole different battle. Anyone got tips for that part?

  15. There are now many apps on the App Store that can actually block you from opening social media apps. No matter what you do. I use one called AppBlock.
